Puck Man aka Pac-Man

As 2009 comes to an end its time we l take a look back at the very best classic video games of the year…however since by its very definition, “classic” means it couldn’t have come out this past year, so we’re going to retro rewind 30 years to 1979!

1979 is the year we were introduced to the world’s most popular video game, released under a different name than the one we have come to know and love. It could also be considered the age of the vector game, with many of the major arcade titles such as Asteroids, Lunar Lander and Tail Gunner designed using the line graphics style. There This was also a time of transition for the budding gaming market as games quickly soared into popularity unexpectedly with the Atari 2600 dominating the homes as the most popular console, and the first handheld video game system, Milton Bradley’s Microvision, making it’s debut along with the first Star Trek video game, Star Trek Phaser Strike.

On the last day of 2009, step back with me to the end of the disco ’70s with the Best Video Games of 1979. Their Groovy!
